Creating a Perfect Kids’ Playroom Mural

When working with homeowners on creating a mural for a kids’ playroom, Seattle-based Muralist, Tamara Hergert, is always guided by the Client’s overall vision of what the room should look and feel like.  Tamara collaborates closely with the Clients in order to convey their vision onto a sketch, which then turns into a wall mural. The sketch work is one of the most important steps of the mural process, as it allows the Mural Artist and the Client to think the mural through and make it functional, engaging, and special. So, what makes a Kids’ Playroom Mural truly amazing?

1) Engaging design:  The range of themes runs as wide and wild as kid’s imagination. So, the sky is the limit here!

2) Color palate: The colors of the mural need to be balanced and work well not only together, but also with the furniture and other objects in the room in order for the mural to complement the space.

3) Functionality: a mural can make some play structures, like a rock-climbing wall,  so much more fun if it’s incorporated into the mural.

4) Durability: The paint selected for the project should be highly durable in order to withstand the wear and tear caused by the rambunctious play dates.
